Abstract— stress has negative effects in health, it's important to take into account the responses that everyone possesses to face stressful situations. This is a transversal and descriptive investigation with 59 workers about to retire, with the objective of describe the type of responses they have in stressful situations. The results point out as main factors of stress: financial problems, sickness in family members, empty nest syndrome and death of a loved one, in male individuals the financial problems are particularly high, and in the women the sickness in family members, this associated to the women's role of being take-carer. Lastly, the participants report often coping responses oriented to solving stressful situations.
