Antidiabetic drugs act through different mechanisms of action, including stimulation of insulin secretion, increasing sensitivity to insulin and the insulin analogues. Other agents are inhibitors of glucose, and finally drugs which imitate intestinal hormones. It is important to emphasize that diabetes is better controlled with more than one single drug, however the corner stone of the treatment is a correct diet and exercise.
